A few things you can do to help....

1.  We need volunteers to go to the San Diego City Council meetings each Tuesday and speak up for the seals. They are at 10:00 A.M. at the City Council building, 202 C St., 12th floor (downtown.) For more info, visit

2.  We need the names and addresses of anyone who lives in the districts of Council members Donna Frye, Ralph Inzunza, Tony Young, Toni Atkins, and Jim Madaffer. We need lists of people in each district who support us. It would be even better if any of you can go with us to a meeting with the City Council member. If you don't know who your city council member is, visit

3.  We need a huge number of letters and phone calls from anyone and everyone!

A.  Senator Barbara Boxer:  Ask her to contact the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), requesting that they enforce the Marine Mammal Protection Act, which protects the seals. We need a rope installed at Casa Beach, (aka: The Children’s Pool) at least for the duration of the pupping season!

Senator Barbara Boxer

600 B St., # 2240

San Diego, CA 92101

Phone: (619) 239-3884

Fax: (619) 239-5719

B.  Contact Mayor Dick Murphy and the San Diego City Council to request that the Marine Mammal Protection Act and City laws be enforced, and that the city reinstate all protective measures including signs and barriers.  The promised surveillance  cameras will not be effective without the rope barrier.

C.  City Council Members we should focus on right now:

Donna Frye – She voted with us, and we need her to get this issue to the full city council for a vote. She's on the committee that must vote to recommend this be seen by the whole city council.

202 C St, MS#10A

San Diego, CA 92101

Toni Atkins – She voted with us and holds same position as Donna Frye.

Address the same as Donna Frye

Tony Young – He wasn't on the City Council at the time of the vote. We need him on our side during the full vote, and we need him to get this issue to the full City Council for a vote.

Address the same as Donna Frye

Ralph Inzunza – He voted against us and we need to bring him onto our side

when we can get this to a full vote.

Address the same as Donna Frye

Brian Maienschein – He voted against our side, but has recently changed to a position asking to protect the seals.

Address the same as Donna Frye, and thank him for changing his position.

left one unexpended effort that might have saved the world. -- Jane Addams
